Band Bio

Broken Waves are an Adelaide based quintet crafting a sound that fuses ‘80s funk groove with modern indie-house sophistication. Formed in 2020, the band have grown from friends jamming on the weekend into one of South Australia’s most talked about live acts.

Drawing influence from The Police’s rhythmic precision and The 1975’s sleek pop sensibility, Broken Waves have built a sound that feels both nostalgic and unmistakably current; driven by groove, emotio and connection. Their latest single, The Chase, refines this direction with shimmering guitar work, funky rhythms and introspective lyricism that’s equally at home on festival stages and in late night playlists.

Renowned for their explosive and unpredictable live shows, Broken Waves have lit up stages across the state, including standout & sell-out performances at Jive, the Grace Emily & the Ed Castle. Their sets are known for high energy and an atmosphere that feels communal, cathartic, and alive. The band has earnt themselves a reputation as one of South Australia’s most engaging live bands.

Beyond the stage, their Making Waves initiative donates 100% of ticket sales to mental health research through the Black Dog Institute, reflecting the compassion and purpose at the heart of their work.

With a growing catalogue, a clear artistic identity, and an ever expanding fan base, Broken Waves continue to carve their place in Australia’s next wave of genre defying live acts.
